From the YES Program, I completed a full cycle of business operations from researching about the industry to realising an entrepreneurial idea. I learned that to create a successful business, we must first understand the market and identify the needs of consumers. I not only learnt how to write a full business plan but to also create a persuasive presentation to attract investors. Our challenge was to deliver a catchy elevator pitch covering a 10-page presentation plan in just 2 minutes. One moment that I remember fondly is when our YES Program mentor Mr. Roger White approved of our business ideas and said that our team had great potential. That is a truly a moment to remember!

Through the YES Program, I have learnt the true value of ASDAN's roadshow presentations and the relationship among revenue, pricing, and cost control factors from the simulated business operations. I have picked up skills from understanding individual business concepts and conducting a macro analysis of the market to exploring the strengths and weaknesses of various business models and establishing demand-supply relationships. We need to complete a series of analyses before we can work out our target market and product details, and finally complete cost calculations. The simulation has allowed me to experience each step of the entrepreneurship process and I have grown to appreciate the challenges and hardships that entrepreneurs face.
——Liu*Yu, Shijiazhuang New Channel school Jinqiu A- Level Course
I have picked up one important principle after attending multiple ASDAN Business Simulation competitions – that is to not pre-determine the final results until the last moment. A tiny mistake can cost us significantly, and conversely, a smart shift in calculation strategy can help us reverse our fortunes and dominate the market. The business simulation has always been filled with adrenaline and excitement, and as CEOs we need to continuously lead our team to overcome different challenges and to strive for our best in every section. A business competition is never just for individuals, but relies on the support and rapport of team members. To us, having a strong team spirit is the only way to achieve true victory.

The end of the 2021 ASDAN Business Simulation National Finals felt very surreal. We were thrilled about the results we achieved but we did not become arrogant and full of ourselves. We understand that this result is a validation of the effort that we’ve put in, and what has really had a huge impact on myself and my team is the entire process from participating from online to offline, to the All Star Semi-Finals and finally WYEF National Finals. To me, this entire process has not only increased my personal development but has also given me more of a zest for life, an aspiration towards the future, and helped me develop my personal maturity.
——Song*Jian, Ealing International School Shenyang
I first took on LIBF because it was known by international students as the ‘High School Students’ CFA’, and it is also highly related to the major that I wanted to apply for in university. Taking the path that all business students took, I experienced the intense challenge of LIBF and it gave me a clear understanding of the subject of finance. I also realized that the process and the journey is more important the actual results. Within the LIBF challenge, we not only learned basic knowledge regarding financial systems and financial planning, but also learned how to mutually complement each other as a team, rather than emphasizing the individual. In the social financial market, we experienced intense competition by the second, which not only tested our mastery of financial knowledge but also our analytical judgment and ability to stay calm under pressure.
——Wang*Ya, Zhengzhou Foreign Language Xinfengyang School
We met various challenges when we went from the EEO to the YES Program and from the sphere of economics to business. However, we stood firm in the belief that if we can persevere each challenge and if we put in our best effort, then we will be able to achieve what we hope for.

At the height of the epidemic, students overcame different challenges to train and participate in the ASDAN Businesss Simulation. The competition not only helped students pick up relevant business knowledge but also enhanced the mutual understanding between teachers and students. Students learnt how to do a reasonable division of labor and to work together to share their responsibilities. They also picked up the importance of having good management. I believe that every student has benefited greatly.
——Teacher Feng, Beijing Ririxin School
Asdan Business Simulation gave the students a wonderful experience. Through the competition, students have learned unity and cooperation, learned communication and negotiation, and gained a better understanding of the significance of hard work!
In addition, every teacher in Asdan is very responsible. Give my best regards!——Teacher Li, Beijing Concord College of Sino-Canada
Through the process of guiding students in this competition, it was impressive to see students go from not knowing anything to doing everything hands-on. This was especially during the roadshow presentation in LIBF and the business simulation, as our students' oral speaking skills were relatively weaker than the other students. Although our students initially struggled with stage fright, they practiced repeatedly and persevered in their determination to win. This led them to finally receiving the roadshow presentation award. I was elated to see this result.

I would like to share a few snapshots of what I saw during the business simulation. Students persevering despite initially being extremely confused and experiencing frustration and a sense of defeat. A student received a difficult question from a foreign teacher and was completely lost, but he calmly responded, saying, "I need to do more research regarding your question as I am only a first year high school student.", and he received full marks for the response as the teacher deemed it reasonable. Another student fond of mathematics became dizzy after doing various calculations. A student who is usually willful and spoiled sat on the floor to work seriously on her poster. And this group of students who never liked English worked till late at night to submit an English business plan and to complete their power point in the early hours of the morning. I would truly like to applaud these students for their effort.
——Teacher Wang, The Cooperative Experimental School of RDFZ and BDFX
The ASDAN Business Simulation provides a stage for business students to present their various abilities. Students from Aidi British High School have deepened their understanding of practical business operations through participating in this business simulation. The experience of the online simulated stock exchange has also taught students about the role of shareholders and the need to critically analyse stocks.
